I don't like those scores. I don't have 4-1 or 1-4 in the office Superbowl grid.

  • I have 2 grand on the Giants. 20-17

  • Giants: 37

    Patriots: 29

    Jets: 0
  • It is really to close to call. I suspect that the difference will be a field goal one way or another and that the total points scored by both teamswill be around 60.

The Giants have been playing great recently and to be honest Eli has been magnificent, but can he keep it up for one more game? However, Brady is coming off, charitably, a mediocre game against the Ravens and will be extra motivated. Also BB will have a lot of tricks up his sleeve which I doubt Coughlin can match.
  • wouldn't be shocked at a Giants rout. Outside of two albeit great playmakers, the patriots D is horrifically bad and they played crap opponents all year, including the Mets, er, Jets. If Gronkowski is hobbled, jints can focus on hernandez and welker and beg neon deion branch or ochostinko to beat them. Patriots running game is subpar at best, they really should not be in the big game this year.

If she doesn't do something dirty with Bieber, I'll be disappointed.
  • Water pressure everywhere will plummet right after the end of the first half, and before the Madonna-rama.

You remind me of a line from an old Peter, Paul and Mary album, "clean mind, clean body, take your pick."

  • I actually thing there's a chance the giants win big. I'm saying 35-17 Giants.

Of course, there's also a chance I'll develop an ulcer during the game.
  • It'll be a defensive stuggle:

    Giants 4
    Patriots 2
  • Patriots win by two touchdowns. It's the All American, handsome QB with the supermodel wife (the greatest QB of all time by the way) vs. the rube. The Giants are the all around better team, but Brady wins the day. He's that great. No one in the history of football has done more with less than Tom Brady. Except maybe John Elway, when the Broncos made the Super Bowl solely because of him, but were crushed. Brady is the most accurate passer in NFL history. Revenge for 2008. Remember that final drive in 2008 when Gomer Pyle threw two balls (to Asante Samuel and Mike Vrabel) that should have been intercepted, and then threw up a Hail Mary and David Tyree made the greatest catch in football history. And people act as though Eli Manning actually contributed to that win. What a joke. The Giants won in spite of Goober that day.

    Go Patriots!

  • That was a good football game. Sorry you only saw those few plays.
Post edited by Train of Thought at 2012-02-04 00:55:35
  • I saw them all. I remember those the most. The Asante Samuel drop of a horrible Eli pass is probably the play I remember the most, even more than the Tyree catch. If he holds onto that gift, Eli is an afterthought, which he should be. A very non-clutch throw. Give Kerry Collins, or even Dave Brown,, a few extra chances and a miracle catch, and they could be be Super Bowl winners too.

  • Go Tom! Go Pats! I will pray for Tom and his teammates, as Giselle requested. What a lucky woman!

You're 100% right about the Samuel play. My stomach dropped on that one.
  • Really, there has not been a luckier pass/win in the annals of the NFL playoffs, other than the Immaculate Reception. Eli was not clutch, he was lucky. The Manning led offense, against a suspect Patriot defense, only scored 17 points. The giants D-Line won that game.

    Giants 28

BB and Tom Brady know how to get it done. They do it for Bob Kraft and his late wife, they are pissed they should have lost to the Ravens... and they've got revenge on the brain from four years ago. Not again.
  • Oy, so now the 18-0 Pats defense wasn't even good. In only 7 out of the 18 wins did they allow more than 17 points. Yes Eli was lucky on some, but he was clutch on plenty. People can put any spin on it they want, the fact is that the 4th quarter began with the Giants on their own 20-yd line with 3 total points, and they ended up with 17. How anyone can say putting up 14 points in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl against an undefeated two-touchdown favorite to win 17-14 isn't clutch, I have no idea. (In fact, Eli was the first QB to throw two 4Q go-ahead TDs in Super Bowl history.)

45yd game changing perfect pass to Boss...4th quarter. Bradyesque play action needle-threading TD to Tyree...4th quarter. Sideline out to Smith for clutch (and needed) 3rd down conversion just before the game winner...4th quarter. One-on-one read for lob to Plax...4th quarter.

Yes, the Giants won largely -- if not primarily -- on the job the defense did to hold Brady and the Pats' offense to 14 (although where were they on the Pats go-ahead drive?). And yes, there were certain very lucky moments for Eli. But to say he had nothing to do with the win is just...well...Eli-hating. Nothing more.

I do still love The Pretenders, though!
  • You forgot the two passes that should have been intercepted on his "clutch" drive!

I'm just poking fun, trying to stir the pot a bit. 2008 still hurts.

Eli is becoming a slightly above average QB. If you don't capitalize on his passes that tend to hit defenders in their hands or chests, and give him some extra chances, there is a slight possibility he can do some damage.

  • Come by the bud light hotel , i have 20 passes left for the show.
